I have one of these lock extensions but haven't used it yet.. you have to reinstall it each time you use it... I'm not so sure it would be safe to drive with the rear hatch opened, because of the fumes from the exhaust getting sucked into the compartment...

What about just drilling a hole in the rear glass, and having an electric lid or cover, even made of glass, that reseals this hole(s) once the motor is turned on... and there could be a solar fan mounted that sucks air out of the interior...
