Dennis, You are right on target here. One last question. A I did the compression check the valves moved from a setting of one turn in to zero lash. What I was trying to do was use the compression reading to tell me where the best valve setting is. Just the turning over of the engine to test compression seemed to be enough to pump up the lifter abd hold it there. Single turn in which worked before would give me zero compression. Engine would not even run. My question is can I start the engine and run it at zero lash and slowly turn each valve in 1 and 3/4 turns and still have the engine run smoothly if I do it slow enough? Seems like the oil will move from the lifter more quickly if the engine is warm and running?
