That's what I'd do for a load like this. Make sure to use a fuse close to the battery post.

You can, though obviously DC is "cheaper" while you're moving. It shouldn't blow out on propane, though, even at highway speeds, unless someone's taken apart the flue vent and put it back together wrong. ;) Turn it off before filling your gas tank, though!
