Toad smokin'! The Marchal Ampilux were the top of the line for individually aimable high and low beams.

The carello dual h1 units were a close second place.

For those who might not be aware of older CIBIE offerings. The Bi-Oscar uses two separate single filament quartz iodine bulbs. Halogens now available will do. It has independent aiming reflectors and a sharp cutoff low beam. It will not fit a 7" holder. It mounts as an auxliary photon torpedo system in its own crinkle finish steel pod. Examine old photo references of AUDI Quattro rally cars of the early 80s and you might see some arranged in sets of six two super oscars sets and one bi-oscar set.

These jewels were used in International rallying and Le Mans/ Sebring /Daytona/ endurance racing. They refuse to die.

On occasion they can be found on Ebay or vintage swap meets. Always used. Sometimes abused usually more that $250 the set. FWIW the last set of Marchal Ampilux as fitted to Ferrari GP cars of the 70s I saw NOS sold for more than $500USD.

Nice lights. Outa my range.

A little group in Brasil markets a fine H4-H1 dual purpose 7" that has a fitting for the boutique city lights. 60-40w max for the mains and 60W max for the High Beam auxiliary reflectors.

They don't rust.
