Ellis: A vehicle that has a lost or abandoned title is a different story. Chris: Thats what i mean, there are title companies to help those who have purchased vehicles w/o a title , legally. there is a company in nevada who will get you a good title for $200 no inspection, no pics, all you need is the vin.~ chris

--------------- Bonded titles and even abandoned titles must undergo SOME degree of investigation. Usually from my experience a bond is posted at a percentage of the claimed valuation of the vehicle, investigation is completed by the DMV which includes a certified letter sent to the last know registered owner/agent of the vehicle. If no response is received or a release is sent then a Bonded title is issued. Otherwise the previous owner has first right of refusal on the vehicle in question. I have had a clean title issued this way and have also received a bonded title. Luck of the draw on the DMV agent at the window it seems. Note that I have only done this with vehicles of a pre-1968 vintage. Have not tried it with a more "modern" sled. Good luck. -ellis
