Sure they do. California just wants you to now that the vehicle has been
SALVAGED. I just bought and sold a Syncro with salvage title. I knew that
when I bought it. The guy who bought it from me knew that as well. Neither of
us cared what the designation said. But the important thing is we all knew,
original seller included, that the title indicated it was salvage.

You may be confusing having a "salvage title" to junking a vehicle. In this
case, the vehicle has been chugging along for over 100,000 miles since it was
first tagged salvage. It is being converted into a camper with a Subaru
engine conversion. So it will have many more miles to go. Since it has been
designated salvage, the current owner is not worried about cutting the roof
for a pop-top and going to a non-VW drivetrain changing the collectibility of
the vehicle.

Everybody is happy. No one got ripped off.
