I've had mine deep enough to thoroughly soak the carpet a few times. I have also managed to stall it once when I got a little bit too deep, but got out back out onto higher ground craking the starter in gear. Whatta little trooper. I think it would be a bad idea to let it get deeper than the tops of the bumpers... The bottom of the gas cap is at the fender flares.
