Stan Wilder's advice on these issues is always pretty reliable. With Redline
synthetic if your van was on level ground you can put in a full 4 quarts
until it overflows. Mine took 4 quarts and did not overflow. Apparently you
can add more synthetic oil than specs call for in regular oil.
I'd love to know the results of your test drive. I hope lady luck is with
