(Stan)I've invested about $6000.00 in my 83 Westy over eight years and consider that to be about what I'd have spent on maintaining any vehicle for 170,000 miles. ----------------------- Clip -------------------------- (Gary) These vans are in excess of 10 years old with 100-200k miles. A truck of similar years and miles will have the same sort of costs. Sure it cost more to maintain than a honda civic but the civic is not equipped with a stove, fridge, sink and bed. With the single exception of the cooling system, the headgaskets. The van is cheap to maintain as most of the work can be done by old dumb farts. ------------------------ Clip -------------------------- (Stan) Gary: DuH! ? I may have dyslexia, attention deficit disorder and be an old fart but I just said the same thing. My Westy has well over 330,000 miles on it. About 185K of those are mine. I have no gripes about the maintenance cost. Every dollar I spent was because I wanted to keep the van, it has never left me stranded. Much of the money went to NEW, NEW, NEW parts that showed no signs of failing. I just wanted to do the restoration by replacing any moving part that I might question at 145 to 300K miles.
