Mark. Ever seen a Vanagon engine fire? The less oil and sludge there is the better. I had oil in my pushrod covers once and it flamed, scorched the plug ceramics and melted the rubber boots. I've since drilled 3/8' in holes in them so they don't hold a pool of oil. I say cleaner is better.
