Get a laptop computer, such as an Apple Powerbook or iBook. $1800 will get you a base model which should be able to play DVD's will have a bigger screen (12 inches) than a mounted system, better resolution and is more easily transported. PC Laptops (low to mid range) are probably similar. You can power the laptop off a convertor from the cigarette lighter. Plus you can also put games on it to give a different pace from the movies...

Denver to Las Vegas in one day is possible, I think. I did Montrose to the California line (past Las Vegas) in one day..and I wasn't trying to make it as fast as I could. But it will be a LONG day (and certainly isn't possible right now with the blizzard they've got...but which will probably be cleared up by May...)
