A few years ago, my '64 burned on the freeway. The hoses were fine ..... BUT .... the brass fitting at the discharge of the fuel pump was a "Sweat" fit and pulled out .... with the hose still firmly attached. My fire extinguisher and those of two truckers didn't even slow the fire. Had to wait for the local fire department to to do their deed. Luckily, the tank didn't blow but after it was all over ... it was bulged out on all sides.

BTW ... there were several places on the ground where metal had puddled.
