(David Brodbeck)My Fords all leaked from the rear main seal. Since they were automatics (didn't have to worry about clutch contamination) it was cheapest just to feed their habits. The worst was a van that was, for a while, leaking a quart every 400 miles. Oddly enough it re-sealed itself after a thousand miles or so of this. ----------------------- Clip --------------------------------- Drive up to any Chief, Pep Boys or for that matter any 7-11 store. The grease build up is substantial. My VW drips a little but not a quart in 2000 miles. I get the drips off my drive with oil sorb / kitty litter and just pour a little unleaded gas on them and it lifts the spots right out. I think most cars drip a little after a few years. VWs might just be a little more active about marking their spot.
