I've placed my KLR650 (bigger and heavier than a XR) into a Vanagon without removing the rear seat. I removed the front passenger seat and placed the front tire of the motorcycle between the front seats. I used seat belts as tie down points.

You have to get the front wheel up and into it first, with the bike not perpindicular to the door. If you use a ramp, the whole bike will be too high and will not fit. You kind of have to snake the bike in.

This was in a non-Westy syncro, but the way I had it, I am sure it would fit in my Westy.

I even have a picture of it inside.

Dang! I do NOT want to hear that!!! I still have to get my new to me XL600R home, and the only means it one of the vnagons...I guess my origional plan of disassembling it will happen. ;-(

...at least I know the Garelli will fit easier, but will be both together wnen I take them home...will be a full westy!

Paul
