cant speak for XR400--other than a great bike. I have a suzuki DR350 dual sport and tried to cram it in my 66 kombi. wouldnt fit with out either removing my westie bench or removing the front wheel--the easier of the 2. as for a vanagon--like my 7 pass. I dont have the center seat and think it would be no problem to make it fit. i plan on trying when all the snow melts off the mountains.

just as a side note though--the DR350 will be for sale soon--as soon as i find a bigger dual sport more comfortable for touring--got my sights set on a 89-90 honda transalp. if anyone is interested--its a low milage meticulously maintained bike with no issues.
