Subject: Starting trouble revisited
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"; format=flowed

Volks,

First I want to say thanks again to all who helped out when I couldn't get my 81 westy started in Denver a few weeks back.

Ever since then I have had trouble getting the van started most of the time. It's easier to start when it's warm and a little more trouble when it's cold but I always end up having to hold the gas pedal all the way to the floor before it will start. I ended up replacing one fuel injector after my trip from Texas to Denver and back, because it wasn't running on all 4 after the trip. That helped a lot and it runs pretty smoothly now excepting some backfiring when decelerating while in gear.

If anyone has any suggestions on the backfiring or starting problems please pass them this-a-way! To me it seems that it just isn't getting enough air when trying to start. I'm looking for suggestions on where to start my diagnosis.

ds
