Potential advice....

If you think you might EVER sell your synchro, the AC is a valuable selling point, and without it your van will not have nearly as much appeal as one with AC. I know this cuz I did what you are thinking of doing, and everyone was disapointed when I said that it did not have AC, when I wanted to sell it.

On the other hand, full AC systems will go for somewhere around 400$ or maybe more on ebay, depending upon style...
