I've only had my 1984 Westy for 16 months. I bought it
from a
friend's parents for only $1000 (even trade for a 1990
Festiva).
It had 169K, a nice int/exterior, and no major
problems.
Since I got her,
I've spent $4300 on parts+labor (not too handy). Now
at 184K, after just
having my clutch done, my heads started to weep. I
decided
to have the engine converted to 1995 Jetta I4 for
maybe around $4200?
(not yet completed). Then it's off to brake/tire land
and the
world of suspension.
.....addiction? i think i should be smoking crack. it
would be a lot cheaper.
not really having pallets of cash around, i've been
cooking and sweating
hard to feed the fire. I can't wait to go for a ride
(we've been
apart for 3 agonizing months. she- snowbound in
Central PA and I in TX)
I'm still a newbie, but i've found some well informed,
passionate
people here. and yes, i have learned the first
lesson--"check
the archives" before raising my hand.*S*
"MJ" and I have already been from MV to KW (cayo eso),
then off to
the Big Island and eventually retiring in STJ once I
complete
the Syncro conversion. ;)
Thanks to all who posted to my earlier inquiries. It
is appreciated.
Hopefully, one day, i'll have some money left over to
open my restaurant.
Have a super day, volks!
