Looks like my 88 GL is destined for new larger rims - 15 inch at least. For appearance primarily, I have toyed with the idea of 15 in rims on the front, 16 inch rims on the rear, just for the sake of acheiving a rakish look, sort of a decorator thing. With the addition of "high-speed mudflaps" I think it would look cool!! Problem is, I'm not knowlegeable enough to predict the outcome so far as performance is concerned. My vehicle's 2.1L WBX is strictly stock, with 40,000 miles on it since rebuilding. All my driving is citified these days, on paved roads, interstates, etc, in hilly but non-mountainous terrain. Question. Will the engine be able to handle the relative change in the gear ratios brought on by the bigger drive wheels? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks, John Rodgers |
