Fred, Steve sounds a bit green in the gills. Steve, you are right about it being gutless but the waterboxer is far from unreliable. If properly maintained I would say that it is extremely reliable. Most breakdowns on the road are due to the owner neglecting to maintain them or not fixing a problem they know needs to be fixed. What is truely nice about these engines are the simplicity and of course this vast source of knowledge called the list. peace to you all, gary Date: Thu, 27 Mar 2003 10:56:59 -0600 From: Fredrich Hesterberg <FredsVW@WEBTV.NET> Subject: Re: hesitation from a stop and replacing afm Unreliable? How can you say this? Most of all the wasserboxers machines I have seen all have big miles to them. Slow yes. Unreliable, no. Much charactor, yes Good Morning Fred
E-mail message I know money should not be an issue when you own a Vanagon (that's why they are always looking for drivers) but anyone care to suggest what the first purchase should be??? Conversion kit and a different kind of motor? I think that's probably the only permanent cure. I can hardly wait to get rid of my wasserboxer, it's really hard to love a motor that's gutless AND unreliable... Steve
