Subject: Fried ECU diode...
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1

Hi All,

So my ECU is blowing a zener diode on the ECU PCB. I noticed that one end of the diode connects to PIN 1 on the ECU connector.

I am still tracing the connections on the wiring diagram in the Bently manual but it appears that pin 1 goes to the idle stabilizer as well as the ignition switch. According to bently, pin 1 should have power when the starter is operated, which it does. However pin 1 is shorted to ground when the ignition switch is just in the on position. My question is should pin 1 be "open" or high impedance when the switch is on? BTW it is the same result with the idle stabilizer removed.

I am speculating that the Zener diode is excessivly forward biased as it was burned pretty badly.

Anybody run into this problem before?

Thanks Kevin 91 Westy with Digifant
