Nice Picture! The local and feral cats have been dragging my wipers down for eight years. The fist route is to just wire brush the old aluminum out of the splines and tighten down the arms in normal fashion. The next route of repair is to cut a thin sliver of aluminum drink can and make a tiny ring type bushing that fills the dead space that has been eaten away. I'm thinking thin wall aluminum hobby tubing might be some better. These two fixes have worked for me and I'm looking forward to my next encounter with ten pound cats climbing on my van and boosting themselves to the luggage rack on my wiper arms. This is a common problem with Vanagon wiper arms, be ready to tighten them often. The last resort of course is to buy new arms.
