hey all....thanks for the responses on my idle questions. I have to say....after owning this van for 7 months now...and not being able to work on it much this winter (bad up here in N.E.)....I think I finally have it (please be gentle gods!). Fixing the two vacuum lines under the AFM did a world of good. Turns out though, my throttle switch was not working properly. HA! The poor thing was trying to send it's signal to it's buddy the ECU and it wasn't getting through. Well, they are united now and doing well. The factory set screw on the throttle body was also not adjusted properly. It wasn't me, I swear!! So I fixed that. Rechecked timing.

Boy, I tell ya....I have not heard this van this way. I'm so happy with this van right now. And I've really gotten to know that vacuum system and the ECU wire harness pretty well over the last few days. It's a good feeling. God, she's runnin' like....I dunno!...it's smooth as butter!

Unbelievable also the little tiny 'rattles' or vibrations you hear when the engine just isn't tuned right and how quiet and what a pleasant world it is when everything comes together. Damn, I think I'll go out and sleep in my van tonight.....(just kidding) Yeah, I've got the bug....but not quite that bad. Yet.

I love my '85 Vanagon Wasserboxer 1.9L Passenger van with GIANT sunroof.

Dustin
