The prefix on VW part numbers can tell you what group it belongs to, in effect: Brakes, Body, Engine, Electrical. I'm not experienced enough to know what all the three digit prefixes mean but that is my understanding on shortening the search by number process. www.importecparts.com/vwlist.html This is a link to a giant VW parts list, I think with a little exploration you'll be able to catch the prefix sequences and that might be of some help to you. Auto wrecking yards subscribe to a service that will feed back all applications for a given part number ..... I'd love to have one of these interchange list myself.
