Subject: Re: how do you get super glue off velour?

Although some doctors (and others) have used it on wounds for a long time, cyanoacrylate glues were only released officially for medical use a few years ago. Here in the ER we use "adhesive remover" when needed (a high acetone content). Ether or chloroform, applied directly, would likely have the same effect. When used for aneasthesia (they are not used for anaesthesia anymore) they would only do this to the nose/mouth, if glued. Automotive starter fluid is diethly ether, close enough for the purpose, but it usually also contains petroleum distillates that make it toxic (not to be used for anaesthesia). Either way, test it on an inconspicuous part of thevelour first. Dr. No (Scott)
