Everything is relative. Obviously you are assuming that anyone who can afford to pay for the hassle doesn't have any sense. There are a great many members on this list who can make more money in their normal jobs in the time it would take for someone else to bring a vehicle in country and make all the necessary modifications and/or documentation. Otherwise, there would be no need for Registered Importers.

Anyone who is planning on bringing on importing a vehicle in a legitimate manner should consider how much time it takes to do all the legwork. Then figure how much your time is worth. Then figure out whether it makes sense for you to do it yourself. If you are in a low wage job, then it may make sense for you to do more of the work yourself. This is something many people overlook. If you run a shop and have to take time off to do this, it is costing you money. If you are a commissioned employee who has to take time off from prospecting to do this, it is costing you money. Not factoring that in does not make sense.
