Chris -

My first Westy was a Canadian 83.5 set up like that. I was told that Canadian electrical codes required a permanently attached shore cord. It was a pain because it took up space in the bottom small cupboard, and was too much trouble to pull in and out of that little hole, so I generally carried a separate extension cord as well.

Different codes also explain the difference in the stoves. US spec have a dish-drainer / heat shield, Canadian have a heat shield which is part of the lid and can't be moved.

Wonder if there are other differences, other than the metric speedometer?
