Unfortunately, i never got the advanced lego sets...
the fanciest i got was a castle set. Occasionally i
got to play with my friends' nice legos. Maybe this
is just trying to reclaim that technological hole in
my childhood?
Bore = local guy here in the bay area.
Stroke = DPR in Santa Ana (the've done many of these)
The lower end looked pretty darn good with the
exception of one thrust bearing who's tab wasn't in
the right spot, and some slighly odd colouration of
the cam - but overall i was pleasantly surprised.
I'll find out early next week how the bore alignment
looks, and then hopefully not too long after that,
i'll get my crank back.
I'm not 100% sure how there is going to be that much
more heat due to the increased displacement. I am
still only going to use x amount of fuel to drive the
van at 70mph, and if anything, it would seem that the
longer stroke would spread the thermal load over a
greater area and reduce peak cylinder pressures.
However, i am most likely completely talking out of my
a$$.
Re: machine shop... i do not work at one. I'm an
engineer who likes to pretend he knows what he is
doing (i'm still young enough that i can chalk things
up to "figuring it out as i go along" kind of
inexperience). So, sorry to say, i can't help you
with the gear slider hub.
Dharma is doing ok. My girlfriend and i went to the
pick-n-pull today, and picked up some things for it.
Getting the electrical issues worked out, and the
slipping clutch is next. We've agreed not to spend
too much time on the ghia until the van's engine is
finished. We actually found a cherry late model irs
pan that would be a perfect replacement for the rusted
chunk that currently resides in the '65. We just need
to figure out how to take it :-) Never pulled a pan
before. Anyone in the bay area want to help? :-)
hope that wasn't a complete waste of bandwidth!
