My local VW dealer is pretty good (they stock some of the parts and will look at the van) but today they did something new. Went in asking about shims for a clutch job. After letting me look through the computer he tells me that he can get the parts, but that I'd be better off going to Whiteheads, a local VW garage that does a lot of Vanagon work. I was a bit pissed at the time (you don't want my $$??) but the I realized that this guy helped me out! I didn't know that Whiteheads sold parts separate from service. And when I got over there I got the parts I needed, plus some valuable advice from the head mechanic and owner (I believe). So now I have my parts and (a little) more knowledge than when I woke up this morning. Now, to just put the van back together! John 90 Carat |
