While my Westy was at the muffler shop today, they took me out back and raised the van on the lift for me to look at the problems with my exhaust. While I was under there, I took a good look around. I want one of those lifts at home!!! It was so great to be able to walk around underneath the van and get a really good look at everything under the van. I found a leaky hose and found that the wiring to my horn is pretty much shot. There is a pair of small metal hoses that run from the front to the back right near the fuel pump and filter. One of them had a short (3-4") rubber hose that was slowly leaking some kind of oil. Are these lines for the oil cooler for my auto transmission? I know that they put a new oil cooler in for the tranny when it was replaced a few years ago. I had the exhaust guy go ahead and check the rubber hose (it was okay) and tighten the clamps a little. RE: the horn wiring: Where's a good source for the horn wiring harness? I had thought that my horn sounded a little wimpy, but I don't know as I had any idea what it was supposed to sound like. So, I want to replace the wiring . . . part of that wholesale parts replacement that Stan's always talking about . . . :^) Thanks again all! This list has gotta be the best resource for this kind of information. I'd be lost without you all. Marc Perdue |
