Marc; If you are up to it, do a compression check. Pay close attention to the condition of the spark plugs when you take them out. Watch for any oily or wet residue on one or more of them. Two years ago my 86 failed like yours, turned out the exhaust valve for number four was at the end of it's usable life. Let us know what you find. Someone told me they were dropping the VET test here in NC in a couple of months. I was unable to verify this.
