One reason Ive seen some very rusty cars in Hawaii..
Purchased a van once from an island area in VA, and it was rusty as well.

I remember looking at an 89 Syncro Westy here in the Seattle area a few
years back that was for sale. It had seam rust on one panel, which I thought
was weird. They were orig. owners and said it had never been out of Wash.
state. I did a car fax which confirmed it. I kept asking questions. He then
remembered that they kept the Van up on Snoqualmie Pass one winter at their
house in a development/cabin area, and they recalled that the
contractor/builder who built the place was from N.JERSEY, and he had salted
the roads one winter.. Its all it took. Mystery solved..
