We are all driving older vehicles.  You can do the same thing with a full sized RV if you are
so inclined.  My '73 28' class A cost me $800, and everything worked except the refer.  The
5000 watt Onan generator was probably worth what I paid for the whole unit.  Just like with our
Vanagons, if you are willing to buy an older one and do some work yourself, you can save a
bundle.  In our case, it needed some general cleaning and maintainance.  We have "camped" next
to some shiny new $400,000 rigs, and we had just as much fun as they did.  We still prefer
camping in the Westy, though, as it will go where we like to camp, which isn't in an RV park.
We use the RV mostly as a guest room.
