I think that  west coast machine near the water will rust too.
Salt air will do the same as salt on road.
I have seen rusty Vans out there.
Not as many no. But can be found.
Very nice page on how to fix.
Bad part is just taking cabinet out.
Metal looks easy.

for those of you who didnt see the above site, the whole drivers side of

westy had to be replaced..
and dont be to sure that yours doesnt look like that behind your
cabinets right now, either.. what you cant see CAN hurt your van..
