Or diesel. :) I may be biased but I tend to think the diesel engine is less problematic than the Wasserboxer. It's certainly easier to get most parts for, thanks to being common with several other vehicles.

I'm with you all the way, incidentally -- I used to have a van with a Type IV engine and it's a good design. Best air-cooled engine VW ever made. I had issues with the FI system but the basic engine seemed very sound and solid. If I were going to buy a gasoline Vanagon I'd want an aircooled one. At least I wouldn't have to look under it every time I stopped to see if my heads were leaking yet. ;)
