Subject: stuck brake drum a cheap puller
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

I have always like to check my rear brakes every two years to keep the drums from sticking. One had become stuck so bad I was only checking the one loose one. That particuliar one I was checking had a cracked set of shoes so it was time to address the stuck side. I started out with the rust buster and the rubber hammer. Moved to stage two with the tapping of the metal hammer. There really is no easy way to get a good hit at the drum. Rather than renting a fancy puller I used an old tire chain I had and bolted it around the drum. There is a way half the tire chain can be bolted around (one bolt)and tightened in place so that with a 4x4 and a 2x4 you can easly leverage off the drum. Give it a try the next time you want to pull a stuck drum. regards gary
