Reliability and longevity shouldn't be confused, people. I still own the cantankerous 2.1 liter that we pulled out of my bus after 170,000 miles of fairly dependable service. It never ever died or overheated, and didn't suffer from the myriad of EFI problems that other people's 'boxers are susceptible to, but sure wrote the book on wobbly cooling systems...radiator, rear heater core, a seta rebuilt heads, four water pumps, two cracked fill tanks and blown hoses here and there. As a matter of fact, it developed the worst coolant leak of its life just *days* before it was scheduled to be driven to the shop for its engine transplant. <G> AAA Plus- don't leave home without it!
