"I've found that here in NJ I have to switch from 20W-50 to something lighter (10W 40) in the winter. The van cranked very slowly those first few cold days in November and into December. The cold viscous 20W 50 just seemed like too much of a strain on the old baby... no problems with the oil light during highway runs when she's on 10W 40 during the winter, but as the rest of the group will verify you really need to run 20W 50 in them during warmer daze. I'll switch her back over to 20W 50 just as soon as this last (???) storm drops another 6" on us (APRIL 6 ???) and the temps stay above freezing...spring will arrive, NO??" An aside to this. That slow cranking with 20W50 in winter will disappear with synthetic. When I switched in winter in Salt Lake it made all the difference. Noticed it both in my wasserb and TIICO.
