Subject: Diff Lock not going off (86 westy)

<DIV>The westy stepped up to the test last week with over a 1000 mile road trip and not a problem (major anyways). The westy crusied at 65 mph on the highway no problem. Over the course of the trip there were brief periods of hesitation...Maybe 10 times and very brief. There were however two noticable problems. 1. It appears as though the rear differential won't unlock. I checked the archives and have found some proceedures to troubleshoot the diff lock. However it appears as though the troubleshooting is to address differential locks that won't engage...Mine wont release (any ideas?). 2. There was also a little idle problem where the idle would bounce about 50 to 100 rpms during a stand still. Running, the westy ran fine. The idle bounce was also intermittent and occured probably 50% of stops. Does this sound like the idle control???? The idle control behind the tail light has been changed, but not the switch itself. Think I should just let this one be and not open a larger can of worms??Thanks again everyone.</DIV>
