Pretty much a good idea.
Start looking for petrol when your trip gauge gets to 175 to 180 miles.
You are just about ready for some more at that range.

I seem to be having some problems with the gas gauge in my '85 Westy.
After filling up, I get about 160 miles before I am at about 1/8 of a
tank. When I fill up the next time, I can only fit about 11 gallons in
the tank. As I recall, the tank in my Westy is a bit over 14 gallons, so
this doesn't quite add up...
What type of range should I expect with a stock 1.9L in a lightly loaded
'85 Westy? I thought about just driving her until she runs out of gas to
see how far I can get on a tank, but I can't imagine the fuel pump would
be too fond of that little experiment...
