For starters, the price tag. VWoA's price-gouging over the past 20 years has been simply revolting. You don't see Toyota, Nissan, or Honda using any import duty as an excuse to screw people (and yes, I mean on the truly imported models).

As for the van itself, I'd like to see a rear-mounted 6-cylinder boxer with a DOHC, 24 valve design with variable valve timing and direct ignition. It would be mated with a six-speed stick or a 5-speed Tiptronic-style slushbox. 4Motion would be optional, and traction control would be standard on the Carat version.

The body and would be like a T3, although suitably freshened. The suspension would be similar to the '88-'91 low-riders, with more bracing on the upper wishbones in the front.

Interior would feature an OnStar-like system, leather, TV with DVD/VCP, power everything, "normal" climate controls, and just about anything you would find in a vehicle like a Lexus RX300.
