Hi Marc, My tranny would sometimes feel like it was trying upshift on me occasionally, then this racing thing started while in Park. It does shift hard when its racing - kind of bucks, but I just assumed thats because when I move it into drive (I have an auto tranny) it has to slow down the engine from its racing so that it can move into first gear.

No kidding, eh? I'm not sure if I'm doing this now because I love my van or because I've fallen into some sort of madness. I bought my van for $7k - now I realize how much I was ripped off. I have severe rusting on the sink side of my westy, the exhaust needs to be replaced before it drops off, and I've already replaced the water pump, the cooling system, all the fuel lines, thermometer, tranny, oh and I can't remember it all right now - basically already sunk about $3k into it and I have at least another $5k left to do. As a starving artist, its getting hard to keep my spirits up when all my rent & beer money goes to keeping my van up and running. :)

Yep - mine is "Vana" when she's being high maintanance, and "Morrison" when he's cruisin'. Maybe the he/she thing is making him/her skizo.:)

Thanks for all the tips - I let you know how all the testing and cleaning, etc. goes. Good luck with your van as well!

Peace, Marla '87 Westy GL "Vana"
