Subject: Looking for vanagon owners with voltmeters...
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"; format=flowed

Nah, it ain't a personal ad, and I'm not looking for a date...

I'm looking for a few folks who own a digital voltmeter to perform a fairly simple test for me...

Could you please take a voltmeter and measure the voltage between the *engine block* and some well grounded point in the engine compartment that is at least a few inches from where the ground braid from the cylinder head connects.

This needs to be done with the engine running, the headlight highbeams on, and the engine revved to about 2000 RPM to make sure the alternator is charging well.

Please tell me what the DC voltage is between the 2 points under the above conditions, and whether or not you suffer from "stalling vanagon syndrome".

I've already done it, and looked at it with an oscilloscope also, and was rather surprised at what I found....

I'd like to get some numbers from others if possible.

Thanks much, Steve
