Subject: Hobie Cat Vanagon?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Volks,

This is somewhat of an off topic, but it's Friday after all. Yesterday while driving through town, I pulled along a Vanagon Westfalia with silhouette of a catamaran sailboat on the driver's door and some large pin striping down the side. I pulled up closer to take a better look at the front of the vehicle and plastered in black letters on the front left of the vehicle it read Hobie Cat.

I remember in the 90s VW had a package deal with Trek Bicycles, where if you bought a Jetta you received a new Trek bicycle. The Jetta included in this package was adorned with the Trek logos. Did VW have a similar package offering with Hobie Cat in the 80s? Could our beloved Vanagons even haul a Hobie catamaran? Or, was this detailing applied aftermarket by the owner at the time.

Just Curious, Josh 83.5 Westy
