Ya, and in the west in general these things, especially the Westy's, are asking "premium" prices. Once I got "involved" in these, adopting the mentality that goes with them, I was a little amazed I'd think of dropping $15-16K to get the one I now have, but that's the "price" of having this preference. By the way, I'll keep my eyes open in these parts for a "camper" in the vintage/$$ range you're looking for.

I have to add that even at 5 - 6K, finding a good van isn't necessarily easy. That's the price range in which I've been looking, for four or five months now, for an 86 or later (for a stronger engine) Westy that seems mechanically sound and that I won't have to put a lot of money into (not a lot of miles on a rebuilt engine, head gaskets attended to, hopefully even cooling system attended to) and I haven't found one yet. Might be because I'm in the Bay Area where good vans are pretty sought after, but so far nothing.
