I'm going on a road trip, and I'm bringing.. a digital speedo, a properly colored bar-graph tach, a water temp gauge, a gas gauge, an oil temp gauge, an oil press gauge, a compass, a clinometer, a trip computer, and a Digitool behind a cover plate (no need to get blinked at more than necessary.)

I've thought about new dash designs in the past, and I've pondered having more things like head temperatures, water pressure, traction sensors, GPS, etc. in my dream dash. But as cool as those things would be, anything more than a basic array of useful gauges makes it less Vanagon and more like the bridge of the Enterprise. "Computer, status report!" "Gasket breach on starboard head, section seven. Venting coolant."

You know, having Majel Roddenberry on a road trip would be *cool*. :)
