Steve, Start by hitting the two exhaust head bolts with rustbuster juice that hold the engine tin on. Do this over serveral days. Remove the tin and juice the other bolts you may have missed. Buy some nice vw brass nuts(at least eight for the heads) and perhaps a few studs if your's look bad. Get all the gaskets and muffler from busdepot but not the tail pipe. the headers may or may not need replacing. I had mine welded where they looked cracked. Take your time and you might consider replacing the waterpump while your doing the job if it has more than 40k on it. Use antiseize wherevery you think you may be revisiting. gary Date: Mon, 7 Apr 2003 10:40:11 -0700 From: Steve Mozurkewich <steve@WERIGI.COM> Subject: New exhaust install

My 89 Westy is in need of a new exhaust system. I'm thinking the whole thing. Has anyone installed one and how was the installation.

Steve
