Well - If you must know, some of us haven't a clue at this point. I don't know the part numbers, don't have a manual, and signed up to this list so that I could get answers like these from folks that know. I understand that some of you have answered questions like this a million times and I am sure it gets old however doesn't this fall into the "just hit the delete key" category if you don't want to answer? I am not a gear head - I have never cared about more that where to put the gas and how to change the oil until I owned this Vanagon. So being not only a Vanagon novice but also a mechanical incompetent (at this point) I turn to the list to ask such questions.

Not trying to rag on you either Stan but I am befuddled as well. Why is it such a chore for some of the long time list members to answer some simple questions from us "newbies"? It certainly doesn't hurt you at all.

Sorry if the tone of this message is a little harsh but I'll be quite honest in saying you did tick me off a little. I signed up here so I could gain a little knowledge from those that have "been there and done that" and because I thought it was cool that there were people out there who loved their Vans as much as I do. Not to be looked down on or commented about because I ask questions that you don't deem worthy of asking.

Thank you,

Jeff

I am befuddled! Why is it that people can't go to Bud Depot, Impex, Vanagain or other site and compare part numbers ? That seems to be the most practical way to see if an 85 part will fit an 86 or visa versa. Not ragging on Jeff but list members are sometimes overly enthusiastic to give a reply and they aren't always right.
