<html><div style='background-color:'><DIV> <P>Thanks for all the help... I will check the servo and vac lines when it stops snowing (yes its snowing in NY again) Is this a dire emergency that I shouldn't drive the vehicle b4 fixing the diff???? Or is it OK to still drive? Thanx again. The problem turned out to <DIV></DIV>&gt;be the diff lock servo. <DIV></DIV>&gt; <DIV></DIV>&gt;There is a red "seal" around the shaft. This seal was <DIV></DIV>&gt;torn, so that the proper vacuum could not be <DIV></DIV>&gt;maintained to disengage the diff lock. <DIV></DIV>&gt; <DIV></DIV>&gt;You can either buy a new servo from one of the list <DIV></DIV>&gt;dealers or buy just the seal from Derek Drew. <DIV></DIV>&gt; <DIV></DIV>&gt;To verify which you need, first pull your servo and <DIV></DIV>&gt;check the condition of your seal. In the case I had, <DIV></DIV>&gt;vacuum could be maintained in one direction (to engage <DIV></DIV>&gt;the diff lock), but failed to maintain in the other <DIV></DIV>&gt;direction (disengage). <DIV></DIV>&gt; <DIV></DIV>&gt;Z <DIV></DIV>&gt; <DIV></DIV>&gt;--- john cianci <JCESSENCE@HOTMAIL.COM>wrote: <DIV></DIV>&gt; <DIV></DIV>&gt;--------------------------------- <DIV></DIV>&gt;The westy stepped up to the test last week with over a <DIV></DIV>&gt;1000 mile road trip and not a problem (major anyways). <DIV></DIV>&gt;The westy crusied at 65 mph on the highway no problem. <DIV></DIV>&gt;Over the course of the trip there were brief periods <DIV></DIV>&gt;of hesitation...Maybe 10 times and very brief. There <DIV></DIV>&gt;were however two noticable problems. 1. It appears as <DIV></DIV>&gt;though the rear differential won't unlock. I checked <DIV></DIV>&gt;the archives and have found some proceedures to <DIV></DIV>&gt;troubleshoot the diff lock. However it appears as <DIV></DIV>&gt;though the troubleshooting is to address differential <DIV></DIV>&gt;locks that won't engage...Mine wont release (any <DIV></DIV>&gt;ideas?). 2. There was also a little idle problem where <DIV></DIV>&gt;the idle would bounce about 50 to 100 rpms during a <DIV></DIV>&gt;stand still. Running, the westy ran fine. The idle <DIV></DIV>&gt;bounce was also intermittent and occured probably 50% <DIV></DIV>&gt;of stops. Does this sound like the idle control???? <DIV></DIV>&gt;The idle control behind the tail light has been <DIV></DIV>&gt;changed, but not the switch itself. Think I should <DIV></DIV>&gt;just let this one be and not open a larger can of <DIV></DIV>&gt;worms??Thanks again everyone.JC <DIV></DIV>&gt; <DIV></DIV>&gt;--------------------------------- <DIV></DIV>&gt; <DIV></DIV>&gt; <DIV></DIV>&gt; <DIV></DIV>&gt;__________________________________________________ <DIV></DIV>&gt;Do you Yahoo!? <DIV></DIV>&gt;Yahoo!
