I drove from Harrisburg, PA to Captiva Island, FL

22 - 24 hours 1 two hour break at a hotel parking lot trying desperately to sleep after consuming a life-time of caffeine 2 drivers 1224 miles 6-10 quarts of oil 15-18 MPG a whole lot of music

Last year I drove from Miami, FL to Harrisburg, PA

2 days 1 day break in lovely Savanna GA 2 drivers 1199 miles

Dana 85 Westy with a quite powerful original 1.9 engine, 235k miles 01 New Beetle TDI

Hmm, last year I bought my Syncro Westy in San Diego. Drove it from LA to Washington D.C. in 5 days via Colorado (among other places). that was a bit over 2500 miles. Only problem I had was getting over Monarch Pass I pushed it a bit hard and had the temperature buzzer kick in. Gave it a rest for a few minutes, ran it up to the Tourist shop at the top and gave it a long rest (30 minutes). Beyond that it ran flawlessly. Doubt you'll have an overheating problem on a trip to the frozen north.
